Retreat to Guatemala ~ March 9th-16th, 2019 ~ Yoga & Permaculture
Just arrived at the guest house. My heart is so full it could burst. There are little dogs and cats around and lots of people, friendly people. And my view! Holy shit my view! I can see how people stay and stay and stay. This is THE place, I knew this was the place for me as soon as I stepped on the first stone to make my way up to the house. Already I am feeling healed, thank you for guiding me here.
~ From my journal of arriving at the Bambu Guest house, Guatemala
Okay so this is it, it's happening, we're heading back to Guatemala and I'm so excited about it.
March 9th - 16th, 2019. Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Yoga and Permaculture.
Here are the details....
We'll be arriving on Saturday afternoon and will have some time to get settled in and will kick off our week together with an evening ceremony. From there, each day, there will be a luxurious 2 hour yoga class. This will include vinyasa yoga as well as yin and restorative and meditation.
We will be taking part in Atitlan Organics service program. This is the heart of our week together. We will be spending three half-days working on a project on a local farm. You can read more about this program here...
There will also be an opportunity to go on a field trip to Quixaya, which is an amazing and inspirational permaculture community of 1200 local Mayans who have truly transformed a 400 acre valley and turned it into a paradise. There are natural swimming pools and lots of awesome things to see. Here is a drone video to show off the beauty of the place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTMVnMMRYcQ
Free time can be spent down by the lake, hiking, or swinging in your hammock. The whole vibe of this place is begging you to slow down, I encourage you to listen.
The lake is dotted with different towns that are just a walk or short ferry ride away, afternoons wandering through the streets, eating local food and checking out different shops is a great way to spend some time.
This retreat is for you if you are into adventure and community living.
A bit about the accommodation....
We'll be staying at the Bambu Guest House which specializes in hosting groups that are inspired to learn and practice creative, regenerative living. The Bambu Guest House really feels like a home, where we can settle in to learn about each other and all the amazing things happening nearby.
The accommodations are shared and offer a comfortable and beautiful place to greet the sun or unwind at the end of the day. Balconies in each room are equipped with hammocks to take in the sunrise or fall asleep to the stars. Each room has a private bathroom, with hot showers, heated with a passive solar system with gas back-up. Wifi is available in all rooms. Soothing river sounds drift up into the room to lull you to sleep.
A bit about the food...
Their talented kitchen staff prepares meals inspired by fresh seasonal produce, always featuring food from Atitlan Organics and other local growers. The kitchen is dedicated to serving groups and able to meet a wide range of dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, lactose and gluten intolerance. Also on offer - unlimited organic coffee and herbal tea straight from the farm. It is their top priority is that your needs are met, that you're comfortable, well-fed, and happy!
