Yin Yoga & Mindfulness

Yin, Restorative & Meditation
60 hrs ~ live online
with some optional IN PERSON sessions in Toronto
Begins Oct 23rd, 2024

It's time to prioritize the restorative nature of slowing down and self care.

If you are looking to go inward - this is for you.

Many of us live what might be considered a fairly yang lifestyle - one filled with commitments and projects, travel and just overall busyness.  And it's good.  It's exciting and can be rewarding and keep us active in the world.  And!  Often times, we forget about, or neglect the other side of things, the side that will help to keep us in balance and harmony - the yin side.

This is the side that helps you connect to yourself.  Helps you heal.  Slow down and recognize the power of stillness and the beauty in the world around you.  When we nourish this side of things, it helps us to show up in the world more fully.  When we nourish the yin side, our relationships, projects and commitments are enhanced.

Yin and restorative yoga are beautiful compliments to a more dynamic movement practice.

As a result of the relaxed and meditative quality of the practice, it helps to calm the mind and balance out a busy life, enhancing our vitality and overall health.

Join the Training

 Who is this training for?

This program is for anyone looking to add intentional rest into their practice and their life.  It's great for yoga teachers, students and body workers who are looking to:
  • add yin & restorative yoga to their classes, home practice or teach this style.
  • deepen their relationship to the yin-side. Not just the style of yoga, but the yin sensibility of yielding and acceptance.
  • introduce a new edge to their offerings.
  • find a way to slow down and connect to them self.
  • find the courage to lean in to the current situation.
  • enrich your life and your relationships.
This program could be just the thing you are looking for. The course is about so much more than making shapes with the body.  The program is an invitation to unfold into who you are - and to meet yourself right there.

"Whether or not you want to teach yin yoga, this program will change you! It is the most supportive, nurturing, intriguing program you could hope for. It's so much more than poses and theory. It helps you actually LIVE in a different way - and what's more powerful than that?"

Love Note

"Taking the Yin Yoga Training with Shawna was a game changer not only in the way that I teach, but in the way that I live.  Shawna helped me appreciate the power of moving slowly, of being and of letting go.  She helped me to understand that stillness and quiet are necessities and that when we use them wisely, there is space for growth and healing".

PRACTICE & TEACHING

You will learn how to safely and intelligently incorporate yin & restorative postures into your current classes and home practice, as well as how to sequence a class for yourself and others.

"After taking Shawna’s yin class I feel confident, bold and capable. I used to step on my mat not even knowing where to begin but through this program, I have fallen in love. I can move and practice with flow and ease"

DAILY LIVING

The foundation of the course is really about bringing the yin energy into our daily lives.  Can we allow this wisdom to seep into our interactions and relationships with others and self.  The yin energy is a place of 'being' rather than 'doing'.  It's an opening to what is.  We practice surrender and acceptance.  We open to compassion and connectivity.

"What I loved most about the training was that what I learnt didn't just say in the classroom - it became guidance and medicine for how to fully live in this complex world. And I'm so grateful for that. I wish I could do this program again and again!!!"

Love Note

"Shawna's classes, style of teaching and energy had always resonated with me, so it only felt right to do this training with her.  Not only does she provide an insightful look into yin, but she continuously creates and holds profound space for introspection and healing."

FAQ

Is this a certification course?

Yes.  This program is registered with the Yoga Alliance and will be counted towards your CEC's.

Is there required reading?

Upon registration I will send you an optional reading list of books that I have found helpful in my yin / restore studies.

Do I need my 200 hr YTT

It's not necessary to have your 200hr YTT.  If you're looking to teach this style of yoga, it can be helpful to have your 200 hr yoga training. However many students take this program simply for personal interest.  This is also a popular training among massage therapists and physiotherapists as a means of adding new tools to their repertoire.

What happens if I miss a class?

Great question!  Scheduling conflicts happen.  If you need to miss a class you will discuss it with your lead trainer and will make up the missed content through reading and the online studio.  If you feel like you'd like to book a private session in order to visit any missed content, that is available as well and to be paid at the private session rate.
**As this is an interactive program built in community, if you think you will miss more than 6 of the live sessions during the program it would be best to wait until the next round comes along.
